Jaimie provides a three-part system in her voice lesson studio. Students will spend the beginning of the lesson warming up and doing vocal exercises. Warming up is critical to prevent vocal strain or injury, and during this time students are taught proper technique. After spending some time warming up and perfecting technique, students will work on sight-reading. Music has it's own written language and it is important for singers to understand how to read the music they are given. We will be working with solfege (do-re-mi-fa-sol-la-ti), which is an amazing tool for helping singers know what note they need to sing without hearing it from a piano. Toward the end of the lesson, students will work on a song. This is everyone's favorite part of the lesson! During this time, students will apply the technique and sight-reading they learned earlier in the lesson, as well as work on vocal expression.
